Traditional Afghan rugs and their makers

Three Generations
One Passion

WHO WE ARE

A Family Business Built on Craft

Rehman Qul, a respected figure in the rug trade, founded our family business more than 50 years ago. Today, as a third-generation family company, we continue to build on his legacy through a commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and exceptional service.

Beyond our dedication to our clients, we are proud to support and empower Afghan women in northern Afghanistan by creating opportunities for them to use their traditional weaving skills. Each rug represents more than craftsmanship—it carries a story of heritage, resilience, and meaningful support for the communities behind its creation.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Our Core Values

Authenticity

Every rug comes with a certificate of origin, detailing its weaver, region, and techniques used.

Sustainability

We use natural wool and plant-based dyes. Our supply chain is traceable from animal to home.

Fair Trade

Artisans receive above-market wages and health benefits. Craft is sustainable when weavers thrive.

Longevity

Our rugs are designed to outlast generations, with lasting care for every hand-knotted piece.

CHAPTER ONE

Our Heritage

For three generations, the Afghan Tappeti family has curated the finest hand-knotted rugs from nomadic tribes and urban master-weavers of Herat and Persia.

Each rug is more than a floor covering; it is a repository of history, featuring motifs passed down through centuries.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

The Art of Hand-Knotting

Every rug in our collection is 100% hand-knotted—never machine-made. A single Afghan Tappeti can take up to 14 months to complete, creating an authentic handcrafted heirloom rather than a factory product.

Natural Pigments

We use organic dyes derived from madder root, pomegranate rinds, and indigo—colors that age gracefully over decades.

The Loom

Every rug begins on a vertical loom, where the weaver translates a mental map into intricate physical patterns, knot by knot.

Final Shearing

After weaving, the rug is sheared and washed to bring out the natural lustre of the wool.
